COVID-19
Now that we know the COVID-19 epidemic is going to affect our lives for a very long time, we need to adapt and change the way we do things. However, our mission remains the same. We exist to improve the lives of those affected by a life altering injury by giving them the opportunity to make music, play music, and experience music while continuously searching for new ways to further our reach.
People need our help more than ever and we need your help more than ever. Here is a list of ways that you can help:
Financial donations so we can provide emergency financial assistance.
Spinal cord injuries cost an astronomical amount of money and nobody is prepared to take on that burden. We will have our first grant opportunity at the end of the third quarter and the more money we receive, the more we can give away to those in need.
Financial donations for our instrument program.
We are making a huge push to give our music artists who have returned from rehab instruments that they can play while quarantined at home. We provide a wide range of instruments to artists including percussion instruments, string instruments like the lap steel guitar, and producing level instruments like the Ableton Push. Staying positive and mentally healthy in the wake of a spinal cord injury is a daily battle. Add in the pressures brought on by the COVID-19 epidemic and life gets really hard. Help us provide joy that only playing music can create.
Donate silent auction items for our virtual Funkraiser.
The Funkraiser last year was a blast. All my favorite people were in one room and I can’t wait for all of us to get back together. Unfortunately, that will not be possible this year. So this year, we are going virtual! The silent auction will take place over the course of five days and everyone will be able to bid through Give Smart’s bidding platform. Please reach out to me if you have items you would like to donate.
Spread the word.
The Funk Foundation is a new organization, and we could use all of the help we can get in spreading the word about our mission! The further we can extend our reach, the more individuals we can help.
If you know a musician who has suffered a spinal cord injury or is disabled, we would love for you to connect them with us! Please have them reach out using the “Contact Us” section of our website, or feel free to reach out via email or through our social media platforms.
We have all experienced the power of social networking. If you support our cause, we would love for you to share our mission on your social media platform to help us further our reach.
